A (Excellent): Near mint condition with, if any, only the most minor detectable flaws.
A/A- (Excellent / Very Good): Only the most minor of imperfections, including at most a few items on this non-exhaustive list: pinholes in four corners, tiny areas of staining/foxing, surface abrasions, smudge marks, very minor edge/corner wear/tears and paper loss, small area of light unobtrusive writing, subtle and minor creasing, paper lifting and chipping).
A- (Very Good): A nicely preserved poster that has more flaws than the higher grades; if the imperfections are within the image, they are not very distracting or may be in the blank borders where they will not show when displayed.
B+ (Very Good / Good): Clear imperfections are evident and likely noticeable if located within the image but not very distracting.
B (Good): Item with significant defects/imperfections; very noticeable if within the image and even more significant if in the borders.
C (Fair): Major significant imperfections - please do not bid/purchase the item unless you can accept its major imperfections.

Linen Backing & Restoration
The majority of our posters have been preserved and archived using a method referred to as "linen backing" or "mounted on linen". This is an archival process where the poster has been professionally cleaned, de-acidified, mounted on archival paper and affixed to a high-quality artist canvas using a gentle wheat paste. The materials used are reversible, and the process is recognized throughout the industry as a safe and effective way to stabilize and preserve valuable posters.
Occasionally, restoration work has also been performed to reduce wrinkles, repair tears, or any missing paper, and of course to also remove stains.
