The Expansion West of the Great Railroads (Harriman's Union Pacific) Post WWI was active. The 1930's in particular were incredibly formative for the resort of Sun Valley as the Union Pacific Railroad established direct train service to its location. Sun Valley's first chairlift started operation in 1936 an it brought skiing to the West in a powerful way, cementing world class skiing akin to the finest resorts in Europe to be experienced. Augustus Moser produced Posters for the Union Pacific Railroad including this incredibly rare example of one of the most iconic ski posers in history. The initial intent was to have them hung up in varying train stations and ticket offices all up and down their line to promote destination travel, and most have been lost to time and damage. This is one of the most sought after Ski Posters on the planet, and it should be noted that it's also one of Nicholas Lowry's personal favorites-which is no small validation, as he's considered one of the worlds leading poster specialists.
